FAQs

What should my dancer expect on the first night?

Expect a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Often our intermediate and advanced level dancers come back and join the new beginner class to help out and make friends.

Expect it to seem slow at first. We spend the first few weeks focusing on the basics of rhythm and motion, but don’t worry: once we start learning a routine it moves fairly quickly!

Within the first month, we will hold an informational meeting with more details where new parents can ask questions.

What should my dancer wear to practice on Monday nights?

Wear comfortable shorts and a t-shirt, along with tennis shoes. Once your dancer gets tap shoes, he or she should bring them to practices as well.

Does my dancer need tap shoes right away?

Tap shoes are not necessary for practices at first. Once your dancer is ready to perform, he or she will receive information on what shoes to purchase.

When do I pay my dues?

You can bring your dues any Monday night.

How much does the club cost?

Child #1: $20/month

Child #2: $10/month

Child #3-?: Waived

Cloverbuds (ages 6-8): $5/month

How can this be real? Are there hidden costs?

We are a volunteer-run group, so our instructors and leaders donate their time. $20/month really does cover the needs of the dancers including insurance, Christmas gifts, performance registration, etc.

The only thing you will need to purchase for your dancer is the performance outfit:
1) Your dancer will need a pair of tap shoes. New tap shoes run $75–$100, while used shoes are usually $25–$40. Tap shoes are a required part of the uniform.
2) Each dancer receives a club costume from the club and in turn gives the club a $25 deposit. When the dancer leaves the club and returns the costume, he or she receives the $25 back.
3) At each performance female dancers wear a pair of black dance shorts under their costume as well as a pair of nylons. Dance shorts cost about $28 at Dees Dancewear and nylons cost around $5 unless you buy them in bulk. Dance shorts and nylons are a required part of the uniform. Male dancers will need to wear black crew cut socks with their tap shoes.
4) Dancers will also need a club t-shirt for certain events. Club t-shirts cost $10 and are a required part of the uniform to participate in these events.

What is a cloverbud?

Cloverbuds are dancers aged 6-8 who participate in all activities except performances. In our (40+ years) experience, dancers aren’t really ready to perform until age 9.
